Su nombre se debe a que estaba en la calle 40 del sector de Cristo Rey, que en esa \u00e9poca era un apartado y silencioso lugar de la ciudad. Hoy, la v\u00eda se llama Avenida de los M\u00e1rtires y donde estuvo la c\u00e1rcel ahora est\u00e1 la parroquia San Pablo Ap\u00f3stol.<\/p>\n<p>En este lugar eran llevadas las personas que se opon\u00edan a la tiran\u00eda en calidad de secuestradas, absolutamente al margen de la ley, sin que se le conocieran sometimientos ante la justicia y sin que sus familias supieran donde se encontraban.
